Cambridge pupils scoop football shirts with skills test
A group of 50 schoolchildren at St Laurence Catholic Primary School were awarded new football kits by Marshall Skills Academy.
The Year 6 pupils were awarded the kits after winning a skills challenge set by academy general manager Dan Edward.
He challenged the pupils to break the current record of Marshall Skills Academy’s ‘nut and bolt’ test – a manual dexterity test which the academy uses to assess potential apprentices.
Mr Edwards pledged to supply them with branded football kits if they beat the record, which they did. The pupils visited Marshall’s HQ at Cambridge Airport to be presented with their prize.
Mr Edwards said: “We hope it will inspire them to one day apply to our world-renowned engineering apprenticeship programme.”
The visit follows a partnership between Marshall Skills Academy and Cambridge United Community Trust that delivered a STEM workshop to pupils earlier this year.
