Exclusive merchandising deal for Cambridgeshire firm

A Cambridgeshire company is to exclusively supply the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Queensland’s Gold Coast in Australia with corporate gifts and merchandise.

The firm, Touch of Ginger, is the licensee for Gold Coast 2018 and for the Queen’s Baton Relay, which began earlier this month and will arrive for the opening ceremony of the Games on April 4 next year.

The Shepreth-based company will be providing all the branded products for corporate gifting, merchandise and memorabilia.

Director and joint owner Gary Moore said: “It was great that GOLDOC [the Games’ corporation] came to us and asked us to be involved. We’re proud to be the only UK merchandise licensee to be appointed. They recognise that we can bring something different to Gold Coast 2018 and add real value to their merchandising programme.”

Touch of Ginger has specialised in retail products since it was formed in 2000 by Gary and Adam Cash, both product designers who had collaborated on various projects for many years.

Its expansion from UK to overseas global events came about with the help of the Department for International Trade (DIT).

It is now setting its sights on the 2020 Olympics and 2019 Rugby World Cup, both of which are in Tokyo. The company will again work closely with DIT on ensuring it is well prepared for meeting the needs of the Japanese market.

Mr Moore added: “Trading overseas is good for business but it’s also great to fly the British flag.”
