Cambridgeshire police will continue to investigate 'unexplained' death of Hamerton zoo keeper
Rosa King was mauled to death by a tiger that was able to enter an enclosure she was working in.
Police have said that they will continue to investigate the death of zoo keeper Rosa King who was killed by a tiger on Monday, May 29.
How a tiger managed to enter the enclosure that Ms King was working in is still to be determined.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary is jointly investigating with Huntingdonshire District Council who licence the zoo.
Chief Inspector Donna Wass said: “While there are no suspicious circumstances, the death of the zoo keeper is still unexplained and the police have a duty to report to the coroner, which is why the police investigation is ongoing.
“Huntingdonshire District Council have a responsibility for health and safety and licencing at the zoo and are investigating these aspects.
“This is why both parties are still involved and will work together on a joint investigation.”
The zoo have said that they will cooperate fully. A statement said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Rosa’s family and friends, many of whom worked alongside her at the zoo.
“We are cooperating fully with the investigation that is currently being conducted by Huntingdonshire District Council Environmental Health Department. The zoo will remain closed for the time being. We are not able to comment further at this time.”
