Can you help find a new home for the Cambridge learning bus?

Can you offer the learning bus a new home?

After 15 years in use there is no longer funding to keep the bus going.

A new home is hoping to be found for a bus that has enhanced learning for a generation of children in Cambridge.

Cambridgeshire County Council is leading the search for assistance to keep the learning bus in use.

In November 2002 the trustees of the former New Street School – originally a ‘ragged’ school for poor Victorian children – consulted headteachers in Cambridge about how the resources released by its sale might best be used.

As a result a learning bus was purchased as a free resource for Cambridge schools which welcomed more than 6,000 city children every year to learn about topics including conservation and the natural world.

Now that this funding has come to an end the trustees of the charity are seeking an individual or an organisation that can make use of the bus to fulfil the charity’s purpose - the advancement of education in particular by providing opportunities for learning for young people and their families in Cambridge.

For more information and to register your interest in taking on the Learning Bus contact helen.manley@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or find more information online.

Expressions of interest must be made by 5 December 2017.
