Cannabis factory with plants worth £377,000 is raided in Cambourne
A cannabis factory discovered at a Cambourne home today (April 21) had plants with a street value of £377,000.
Cambridgeshire police found 449 cannabis plants in various rooms, including the loft, of the property in Reans Meadow just before 11am.
Police remain at the scene this afternoon as they investigate.
The discovery follows a tip-off from a member of the public, who was suspicious about the house, where the curtains were drawn. There did not appear to be anyone living there for months.
Sgt Rob Taylor said: “This was a great discovery following a call from a member of the public, who trusted their instinct when something didn’t seem quite right.
“We would encourage people to look out for signs of illegal cannabis factories, including blacked out windows and people coming and going at various times of the day.”
Cambridgeshire police’s ‘Stay In, Speak Out’ campaign encourages residents to report any concerns or suspicious behaviour in their community.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, when people are spending more time at home, the force believes the community can play a key role in helping to spot criminal activity.
Anyone who spots drug dealing or drug activity where they live can report it at cambs.police.uk/A-Z/Drug-dealing.
