Changes to prevent all-day queues at Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King's College
Ticketing operation unveiled for the famous Christmas Eve concert
This year, King’s College will be operating a ticketing system for its famous Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve.
Anyone wishing to attend will need to be at the college at 7.30am on Christmas Eve with some photo identification.
They will be issued with a ticket for a specific seat at the service and invited to come back after 1.30pm to gain admission to the chapel.
Only one ticket will be given per person and about 500 will be available.
The Rev Dr Stephen Cherry, dean of King’s College Chapel, said: “By issuing tickets in this way we will maintain the generous spirit of the occasion without requiring members of the congregation to stand outside in the cold all morning.”
People are asked not to bring anything larger than a small handbag into the chapel.
