City pub The Ship set to open doors after two years
A Cambridge pub that has been closed for more than two years is being refurbished before reopening later this year.
The Ship in Northfield Avenue shut its doors in April 2020 but is set to reopen under new management in November. It is the latest Wells & Co pub to be refurbished, and punters can expect to see the traditional community pub return with new signage and a new garden area.

The pub will feature a new craft beer and ale range from Wells & Co’s popular brewing facility in Bedford, Brewpoint, alongside a traditional food offering. Benjamin Smith, the director of operations for Pub Partners at Wells & Co, said: “We’re delighted to be able to start works on The Ship at Cambridge.
“This pub has unfortunately been shut for a few years but we are very pleased to say that we have new business partners involved and we are looking forward to seeing what a transformation this will bring just in time for the World Cup.”
Wells & Co has 190 pubs in the UK and 17 in France.
