Complaints made to police as 200 vehicles attend car meet in Cambourne car park




At least 200 vehicles were at a car meet at the Morrisons car park in Cambourne on Sunday night, police said.

Residents reported hearing cars speeding, engines being revved and exhausts popping, and tyre marks can be seen on the roundabout leading to the retail park.

The event was called Cambourne takeover 2020 on Facebook.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called just before 8pm on Sunday, September 13 to reports of a car meet at a car park on Broad Street, Great Cambourne. Residents reported concerns relating to anti-social behaviour and inconsiderate driving.

“Officers attended, where they reported at least 200 cars at the location. Drivers at the meet began leaving the area once police arrived. There were no reported issues and all cars had left the location by 11pm.
