Coronavirus case tracker for England: Areas of Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire record first Covid-19 clusters for months

New small clusters of Covid-19 cases in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire have been confirmed.

Public Health England (PHE) data shows Arbury recorded an outbreak, as did Girton and Barton, and the Fulbourn and Teversham area.

Full details for every area of Cambridgeshire are revealed below, with notable outbreaks in Huntingdonshire and significant numbers in Peterborough. You can also search for any location in England in our table below.

The data shows clusters at geographic levels known as middle super output areas, which have an average of about 7,200 people each. PHE suppresses the data below three cases at this level.

The figures are based on Covid-19 test data. But the true number of cases is likely to be higher, as many people in Cambridgeshire are struggling to secure a test appointment , as we have reported, reflecting nationwide problems with the government’s testing programme. Laboratories are struggling to keep up with the demand for tests, particularly in the wake of schools returning, which has also led to a natural increase in coughs and colds.

Official advice for those unable to secure a Covid-19 test via the government’s website or by dialling 119 is to keep trying.

The figures come as Prime Minister Boris Johnson acknowledged that further measures may be needed as the country was being hit by a “second wave” of Covid-19.

“It’s been inevitable we’d see it in this country,” he said.

The government is hoping to avoid another national lockdown by using other measures, such as local lockdowns or possible bans on household-to-household contact on a regional basis.

Nationwide, a further 4,322 Covid-19 cases were confirmed on Friday.
