South Cambridgeshire District Council chief executive's employment discussed in behind closed doors meeting
Mystery surrounds the chief executive of South Cambridgeshire District Council, whose “employment is being discussed” behind closed doors.
A spokesman for South Cambridgeshire District Council said the authority’s chief executive, Beverly Agass, is “currently not in the office”.
According to the spokesman: “The chief executive’s employment will be discussed in private session by the council’s employment committee today (February 13) and will then be considered further in private session at a full council meeting next Thursday (February 21).”
The business of the council is understood to be continuing as normal and anyone needing to contact the chief executive should contact her office in the normal way.
The spokesman added: “The council will not be making any further statement in respect of this matter until after the council meeting on 21 February.”
Both Bridget Smith, leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council, and Peter Topping, leader of the Conservatives at South Cambridgeshire, were contacted, but neither could add any more than had been revealed in the council statement.
Beverly Agass started her role at South Cambridgeshire District Council in 2017.
