Ambulance crews attended and the woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where she remains in a critical condition.

DI Garry Webb, from the BCH Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are trying to piece together what happened and would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact us. That includes anyone who may have seen the woman on the same road or surrounding roads beforehand.”

The road was closed following the collision and the driver of the lorry, a man in his 40s, is helping police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for information and urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam footage, to call 101 and ask to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit, quoting Op Tyler or incident 474 of 28 February.
