‘Dangerous’ Cambridge drug dealer found with loaded gun and £500,000 drugs is jailed
A “dangerous” Cambridge drug dealer running a criminal enterprise in the city has been jailed for more than 13 years after he was discovered by police with drugs worth more than £500,000 and a loaded gun.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary detectives raided Maroof Rahman’s home in Mill Road and another property in Birdwood Road in August 2022.
They discovered a firearm and live ammunition, cocaine, cannabis, equipment for the production of drugs and multiple mobile phones, along with almost £18,000 in cash.
The 36-year-old was on licence at the time of his arrest for a previous six-year sentence from July 2018 for drug-related offences.
Rahman was jailed for 13 years and eight months at Peterborough Crown Court last Friday (23 August) after being found guilty of being in possession of a prohibited, viable firearm and possession of ammunition.
He also pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis, possession of cocaine, acquiring criminal property and possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis.
Det Con James Campbell, who investigated, said: “It is clear that Rahman was not only supplying cannabis and cocaine around Cambridge, he was also a dangerous individual in possession of ammunition and a gun. Rahman was running a criminal enterprise across the city with others beneath him collecting and delivering the drugs.
“This sentence reflects the seriousness of his actions and we’re pleased he’s now off the streets for a considerable length of time.
“As a force we will continue to work to disrupt the supply of drugs in Cambridgeshire and put people like Rahman in front of the courts.”
