Deputies sworn in and honours given out at ceremony hosted by Julie Spence, the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire
New Deputy Lieutenants were sworn in at a ceremony at Great St Mary’s Church in Cambridge last Thursday (April 20).
The investiture was handled by Julie Spence, the 37th Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, and the new Cambridgeshire Deputy Lieutenants include Mrs Gillian Beasley OBE, previously the joint chief executive of Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council, the Very Reverend Mark Bonney, Dean of Ely Cathedral since 2021, and Jennifer Crompton, High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire from 2022-23.
Also joining the ranks are the Lord Grimthorpe (Edward), racing manager to the late Prince Khalid Abdullah, and executive chairman of the National Stud, James Hutt, winner of the East of England Training Award for Building and Engineering Services in 2006, who set up his own heating and ventilation business a year later.
The other deputies are Hanadi Jabado, managing partner of the venture capital firm Sana Capital, headquartered in Cambridge, Dr Neil Modha, general practitioner and managing partner at Thistlemoor Medical Centre in Peterborough, Jonathan Spence, fellow and the senior bursar of Queens’ College, and Rizwan Rahemtulla, president of the Husaini Islamic Centre.

OBEs and BEMs were also awarded on the day to Professor Simon Peyton Jones (OBE), James Hems (BEM), Margaret Footner (BEM), Susan Anderson (BEM) and Louenna Hood (BEM).
