A man and woman were walking with a seven-year-old child on the night of 9 July when it happened. The adults and the dog were left with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The woman has yet to be discharged from Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Det Sgt Craig Wheeler, who is investigating, is trying to trace the vehicle, which left the scene and is described as a small white hatchback car.

He said: “We had some responses to the first appeal, but I believe there are still people out there who may be able to help us trace this vehicle.

“We are looking for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from at, or around, 9.55pm when the collision happened.

“This collision caused serious injuries to those involved but it could easily have been a lot worse.

Anyone who saw what happened, has CCTV or dashcam footage, or was in the area at the time of the collision should report it through the force website using reference CC-09072024-0488.

Anyone without internet access should call 101.
