East West Rail meeting back on track
Residents are reminded that a face-to-face meeting in South Cambridgeshire with representatives from East West Rail is set to take place today (Wednesday, October 12).
The event in Haslingfield was initially due to take place on July 19 but was postponed due to the extreme weather conditions.
It was then rescheduled to be held on September 9 but was postponed for a second time following the death of the Queen.
Residents with concerns about the plans or who would like to ask questions are urged to attend the event at Haslingfield Methodist Church from 2pm until 8pm.
Until now the consultation has been done virtually, with residents frustrated at having no right to reply.
Further concerns have been raised by campaigners, who say residents have been left in limbo since a consultation on the railway was held last year and that, after two postponements, some have been left confused as to whether the event would actually take place.
Hannah Staunton, head of external affairs at the East West Rail Company, has said that organisers will not have any new information to share at this event but that it is an “opportunity for us to engage”.
