Elections 2021: Who is standing for Cambridgeshire County Council

The Conservative Party took control of the council in 2017 after four years of no party having overall control and will be seeking to retain their majority. The current make-up of the council includes 36 Conservatives, 15 Liberal Democrats, seven Labour, two councillors representing St Neots Independent and one independent. There is also a vacant seat following the resignation of deputy leader Roger Hickford.

The Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party will contest all of the seats representing wards in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire, with Labour contesting the majority of seats in the two areas.

UKIP’s Peter Burkinshaw will contest the Chesterton ward while independent Neil Scarr is standing in Fulbourn.
