Ely murder investigation: Tributes paid to 29-year-old mum as fifth arrest made




Friends have been paying tribute to a 29-year-old mother as police investigating her suspected murder confirmed they had made a fifth arrest.

Cambridgeshire police were called to a home in High Barns at about 2.10pm on Tuesday, following reports of concern for her.

Ms Green was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics and medical staff.

Police confirmed today (Friday) that a 30-year-old man from Littleport has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Four others, all from Littleport, were arrested on Wednesday.

A 38-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday and have since been released under investigation.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with possession with intent to supply class A and was remanded to appear before Peterborough magistrates this morning (December 4).

A 28-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.

A post mortem examination was a due to take place at Peterborough City Hospital today.

Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead, who is investigating, said: “We will be conducting inquiries in and around High Barns area while our investigation into the death continues.

“There will be a large police presence while we carry out these enquiries and we would like to reassure people that we are treating this as an isolated incident.”

A fundraiser on GoFundMe has been set up by Hollie Maynard and Jade Houlding to give Ms Green “the best send-off” and “make this difficult time a bit easier for her family”.

They said: “This beautiful young lady was taken too soon.”

Writing on Facebook, Cara Bullock said she “will be missed by lots”.

Another friend wrote: “RIP you beautiful angel” and said she “will always be remembered”, adding: “Only the good get taken.”

And another friend said: “Fly high girl, will always be in my heart. We had some good times and bad. I will never forget you.”
