The event was to raise money for the Phoenix Trust, a Milton-based charity that manages a garden centre and kitchen, providing work experience for vulnerable members of society.

Sponsorship for the golf day came from The Cambridge Building Society, Workstories, KRB, Brewers Decorator Centres, Salmons Bros Ltd, and Wedd Joinery, with prizes donated by The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie, La Raza, Fitzbillies, the Good Plant Company, Brewboard, and the Old Hall Ely.

Many of the sponsors formed teams to take part alongside property agents including Bidwells, Carter Jonas, Cheffins, and Savills, and legal firm Birketts.

Neil Cook, group director at COEL and a trustee at the Phoenix Trust, said: “The Phoenix Trust and COEL both have a special place in my life and I am immensely proud to be associated with both great organisations. Today has been a true celebration of how by working together as a community we can achieve far more than we can as individuals.

“I would like to thank all our business associates who have been incredible in supporting this day and helping us raise funds for the Phoenix Trust.”

All seven teams completed the course and during lunch at the clubhouse, a talk was given by Jude Tustian, manager at the Phoenix Trust, explaining more about the work it does in the local community. In total, the May 13 event raised £3,750.
