Families get in the regal spirit during East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices’ belated Jubilee party
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) held a belated Queen’s Platinum Jubilee party at its Milton Hospice earlier this month.
Eight families attended and children, young people, siblings, parents and grandparents got in the spirit, despite the soggy conditions. They enjoyed live music, face painting, creative activities and having their picture taken with props including cardboard cut-outs of the Queen and her corgi.
Each group and events co-ordinator Jenna Kent said: “The weather was typically British. In fact, it became a bit of a running joke, especially given how sweltering it was the previous day when we were putting up gazebos in 35C heat!
“However, in true British style, we carried on regardless. We changed a few things around, moving some of the activities inside, and it was a big success. It was amazing to be able to welcome our families back to Milton, seeing them chatting and laughing.
“We’ve had things like sibling days but this was our first face-to-face family event at the hospice for a long time – since before Covid. It was a lovely thing to be able to do.”
