Family of Dr Muhammad Shaheer, 30, pay tribute after his death in Balsham car crash
The family of a 30-year-old man who died when his car crashed into a ditch have paid tribute to him.
Dr Muhammad Shaheer, who campaigned for highway safety, was driving along Cambridge Road in Balsham on December 22 when it left the road.
Emergency services attended but Dr Shaheer, of The Hawthorns, Balsham, died at the scene.
His family said: “Despite reaching only the third decade of his life, Muhammad had an impact of an entire lifetime upon everyone he knew, be it his colleagues, friends, or family. We will all miss him dearly.”
Dr Shaheer was a parish councillor in his home village.
The parish council told the Cambridge Independent: “We were all absolutely shocked and upset to hear the news that Mohammed had been killed.
“He was a very active, enthusiastic member of our parish council and community. His passion was highway safety and was especially focused on reducing the speeding through the village.
“He had joined the speed awareness team and had put forward a proposal to the local highways improvement scheme for signs entering the village to slow traffic down.
“We will endeavour to push this through as this is something we can do in his memory.
“We will miss his kind, gentle personality and his enthusiasm so much.”
