Man found dead after blaze at a house in Ickleton

An investigation into the cause of a fire that killed an elderly man has been launched by Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue.

A crew from Cambridge and crews from Saffron Walden were despatched to the blaze in Church Street in Ickleton on Saturday morning (January 21) at 7.39am.

The crews arrived to find a well developed fire in a two storey house and, wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the blaze using hose reels and jets.

An elderly man was found dead at the scene. The crews returned to their stations by 10.15am.
