Firefighters tackle another deliberate fire in north of Cambridge
Firefighters were called to another fire started deliberately in the north of Cambridge on Tuesday (22 October) night.
A crew from Cambridge was called at 11pm to a hedgerow on fire in Ashvale, in King’s Hedges. They used a hose reel to put it out and returned to their station by midnight.
The fire service said: “The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
It follows three fires at bin stores in nearby Orchard Park - one in Aster Way to which firefighters were called at 5.22pm on Saturday (19 October), and two more on Monday (21 October) in Chieftain Way, at 7.22pm, and Ring Fort Road, at 7.51pm.
Cambridgeshire police urged anyone with information on the bin store fires to contact them via the force website using reference 35/76368/24 (19 October) or 35/76879/24 (21 October). Anyone without internet access should call 101.
On 29 September, the wooden fort at the Pulley Play Area, off Jedburgh Close in King’s Hedges, was set on fire deliberately.
