The blaze was spreading to a nearby building.

A fire crew from St Ives was called to a fire on Green Street in Willingham at 6.19pm yesterday, Wednesday December 27.

Firefighters arrived to find a car well alight, with the fire spreading to a nearby building.

Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and a jet. They also used a positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke and a thermal imaging camera to check the building.

The crew returned to their station by 8.55pm.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
