Firefighters tackle harvester blaze in early hours of the morning in East Cambridgeshire village
This was the scene as a harvester caught light in the early hours of the morning in an East Cambridgeshire village.
Fire crews from Cottenham, Sutton and Chatteris were called to the scene on Twentypence Road, Wilburton, at 3.56am on Friday (October 15).
Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters used hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire.
They determined that the cause of the fire was accidental and were back at their stations by 6.40am.
The previous evening, firefighters were called to a fire at an allotment off Lucerne Close, Cherry Hinton.
The blaze was believed to have been started deliberately.
A crew from Cambridge was called at 7.37pm on Thursday (October 14) and had put it out and returned to the station by 8.10pm.
Another fire was deliberately started on Wednesday (October 13(, which affected a garden fence and trees in King’s Hedges Road, West Chesterton.
A crew from Sawston was called at 4.19pm.
