Firefighters tackle huge blaze at Milton landfill site

Residents advised to keep doors and windows closed due to smoke

Around 40 firefighters are tackling a fire at the landfill site near Milton.

Crews were called at just after 6am this morning to the fire on Butt Lane in Milton.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service says a large amount of household waste and machinery are involved in the fire.

Residents in the area have been advice by police and fire services to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke.

Butt Lane has been closed, as has the household waste recycling centre.

The smoke has been drifting across the village and A14.
