Former councillor pleads guilty to indecent images charges




A former councillor at Cambridge City Council has pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent image of a child.

Alan Cox, 46, of Byron Square, Trumpington, Cambridge, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (July 7).

He is due to be sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 28.

Mr Cox was elected to the city council’s Trumpington ward in May last year, representing the Liberal Democrat group.

The city council said Mr Cox resigned from his role as councillor on Tuesday, June 28.

A by-election for the Trumpington ward has been set for Thursday, August 18.

Residents wishing to vote in the by-election, who are not already on the electoral register, should register by Tuesday, August 2.
