Waterbeach Surgery has been forced to cancel future flu vaccinations following a problem with refrigeration.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group explained: “Due to a cold chain issue with flu vaccine at Waterbeach Surgery, flu vaccination had to be cancelled last week. A number of patients have been rebooked, but as the surgery is not expecting further stock of flu vaccines this winter, the remaining eligible patients have been advised to access their flu vaccines at a local pharmacy to ensure they get the protection they need against flu this winter.”

The issue came to light after the surgery put a message on the village Facebook page saying: “Due to supply issues with the flu vaccine, we currently have no stock of vaccines for those under 65. We are trying to source further supplies but do not know if or when stock will become available. We would encourage those under 65 who have not yet been vaccinated to contact a pharmacy to book in for their flu jab.

“This includes those who are currently booked to have the vaccination at the surgery.”
