More than 30 walk-in clinics are offering Covid-19 vaccinations to over-18s in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough from June 24-27.

Many are also able to administer second doses for those aged 40 and over, or clinically vulnerable, who had their first dose at least eight weeks ago.

Second doses are also available at the walk-in centres for people aged under 40 if they had their first dose at least 11 weeks ago.

You do not need an appointment at these walk-in centres, but should bring identification and, if possible, your NHS number with you.

Update

Six Covid-19 vaccination walk-in clinics added for June 28-July 1 for second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

The venues range from football stadiums to bowls clubs, shopping centres to health clinics, and are being co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) as part of the effort to drive up vaccination rates amid the rise of the easily transmissible Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus.

The aim is to get as many people vaccinated - and as many second jabs administered - as possible, ahead of the easing of restrictions due on July 19.

GP Dr Gary Howsam, chair of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their COVID-19 vaccinations to ensure nobody is left behind. Which is why we are running more than 30 walk-in clinics across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough this weekend, with many more planned for the coming weeks.

“It’s really important that people not only get their first dose, but also their vital second dose to ensure they have the maximum protection against COVID-19. So make sure you drop in to one of our walk-in clinics this weekend to get the jab.”

The second dose of the Covid-19 vaccines is known to improve protection against Covid-19.

Dr Susan Hopkins, strategic director for Covid-19 at PHE, told the Andrew Marr Show: “We know that two doses of vaccination really protects against hospital admission - about 94 per cent overall and 92 per cent for AstraZeneca and 96 per cent for Pfizer.”

Individuals will be given a vaccination deemed clinically appropriate for their age and/or any medical conditions they may have. Those aged 40 and over will be offered the AstraZeneca vaccine, while those aged under 40 will be offered Pfizer or Moderna.
