Gallery: The Cambridge homes lighting up lives with Christmas spirit

Christmas may be different this year, but the festive spirit lives on in Cambridge with gardens, houses and windows decorated with seasonal displays.

Two of those streets are Rock Road and Blinco Grove where residents created advent windows, counting down to Christmas.

Blinco Grove organiser Tabitha Smith said: “I got the idea from Sturton Street where my friends were doing it. I think it seems to have taken off – there seems to be loads of streets doing it this year.”

Tabitha added: “We already had a What’s App group going, so it was easier to start it off. People are getting to know each other a bit more in the street – it’s a really nice way of meeting people.”

Tabitha said about 30 residents took part: “We’ve got doubling up of some of the windows and the nursery got involved as well.

“I think I’m going to go around some of the streets on Christmas Day and just see what everyone’s done, because there are some lovely artistic ones.”

Homes in Hinton Avenue, Cambridge, also created a window wonderland, as we have reported.

Meanwhile, photographer Martin Bond, of A Cambridge Diary, has captured some of the impressive displays around the city.
