GCSE results day 2020: Trumpington Community College, Coleridge Community College and Parkside Community College
Headteachers at three Cambridge schools have shared their thoughts on an extraordinary year as students find out their GCSE results.
As no exams were sat this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pupils are receiving their teachers’ predicted grades , and schools are not releasing the usual full details of their results.
Adrian Kidd, headteacher at Trumpington Community College, said: “Despite the unprecedented and difficult circumstances that everyone has faced this year, we have been delighted to see so many happy students receiving their GCSE results today.
“This was our first Year 11 cohort at Trumpington and, whilst it was disappointing that students weren’t able to sit their exams as they’d hoped, we are glad that they have been rewarded for their hard work and efforts throughout their time with us.
“The students’ response to this year's uncertainties has been admirable and we are very proud of them all.
“I would like to thank them, along with their parents and teachers, for the commitment and dedication they have shown.
“We wish them the very best as they take their next steps and progress successfully onto further education.”
Ele Stoneham, headteacher of Coleridge Community College, said: “This has been the most extraordinary year for our Year 11s but I am delighted that their hard work over the past five years at Coleridge has been recognised.
“They are a truly remarkable year group who have bright futures ahead of them. We are very proud of all their achievements and wish them the very best for their next steps.”
And Craig Morrison, executive headteacher of Parkside Community College, said: "We are delighted to see so many happy students whose hard work and efforts over the past five years have been recognised. Our Year 11 students have dealt with the uncertainty this year with real character and I want to thank them, together with their teachers and their parents, for the commitment they have shown. We know that, as a group, they will all go on to achieve great things in their chosen paths.”
The three community colleges are members of Cambridge Academic Partnership, which is part of United Learning.
