Among the students celebrating top results are Alice Bernal, who achieved nine GCSEs at grade 9 and one at grade 8, Roy Lam, who achieved seven of his ten GCSEs at grade 9 and Elizabeth McCluskey, who achieved seven GCSEs at grade 9 and three at grade 8.

Many of these Year 11s will now be preparing to return to Parkside Sixth to continue their studies this September.

The sixth form celebrated its own excellent set of results itself earlier this summer, with a record-breaking points average for its students’ International Baccalaureate (IB) results.

These results enabled students to secure places at a range of top universities in the UK and across the world, including the University of Oxford, Fudan University in China and Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen in Germany.

Craig Morrison, executive principal, said: “This year’s GCSE results represent a fantastic achievement for our Year 11s, who have all displayed grit and determination over the past few years. As a group, they have been a pleasure to teach and, as individuals, they have each remained ambitious in securing the very best outcomes they could – demonstrated by the proportion of the highest grades achieved across the cohort. Their parents deserve great praise too for the support they have provided throughout. Best of all, these are incredibly positive results across the year group and all of the subjects.”
