GCSE results day 2023: The Leys School

Pupils at The Leys have achieved “terrific” GCSE results, with just over one in four results graded the highest possible mark.

Almost 75 per cent of all grades received were 9, 8 or 7, with nearly 54 per cent at grade 9 or 8, and just over one in 4 were graded 9.

These results are the highest in the school’s recorded history when compared with those received pre-2020.

Top performing pupils included Daisy H, Diogo KFS, Charlie M and Daisy H, all four of whom obtained straight 9 grades.

Headmaster Martin Priestley said: “These are terrific results collectively and I congratulate our Year 11s wholeheartedly on what they have achieved. Setting aside those years when grades were affected by Covid, this year's are by several criteria the best GCSE results the school has ever seen.

“Following some very strong A-level results last week, The Leys School community has reason to celebrate and, whilst the pupils themselves take full credit, I would also like to place on record my thanks to all my colleagues for their hard work and commitment in facilitating these results.

“These are exciting times for the school and its pupils; I look forward to welcoming the vast majority of this cohort back into the sixth form at the beginning of next term.”
