GCSE results day 2024: Swavesey Village College celebrate outstanding set of results
It’s a joyful day at Swavesey Village College where students and staff are celebrating another successful set of GCSE results.
Headteacher Jim Stavrou said: “I am once again delighted and immensely proud of our students. Leading the school this year has been a privilege, especially as we celebrate such an outstanding set of results.
“Our students have worked very hard and their efforts have truly shown what a successful year group they are. I wish every Year 11 student the best in the exciting future that awaits them.
“None of this would have been possible without our dedicated and inspiring staff, who have continually gone above and beyond for our students. I am deeply grateful for their unwavering support and commitment.”
The college’s highest achieving student was Chen Liang, who achieved 10 grade 9s, one grade 8 and a grade 7.
Josh Clarkson, Alice Fewtrell, Lucy Dalley and Maddison Boulton-Nathan also all achieved eight grade 9s with their remaining grades at grades 8 or 7.
Alongside excellent success in the core subjects of English, maths and science, staff have been particularly impressed with the performance of students studying the arts this year.
In music, some 50 per cent of students got a grade 8 or 9, and in art and design, some 45 per cent gained those highest grades.
