General Election 2024: A guide to hustings in Cambridge, Ely and East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire, and St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire




With the General Election on the horizon, hustings are being held across the county to provide voters with an opportunity to hear the views of candidates.

We’ve put together a list of the remaining events in the constituencies of Cambridge, Ely and East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire, and St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire.

Cambridge

Wednesday, 26 June at 7pm: Cambridge City Foodbank hustings, Church of the Good Shepherd, Mansel Way, Arbury, CB4 2ET

The hustings have been organised in partnership with anti-poverty organisations including Jimmy’s, It Takes a City, YMCA Cambridgeshire and Centre33.

Visitors must register at shorturl.at/5rmTr or by calling 07415 757247.

Ely and East Cambridgeshire:

Sunday, 30 June at 6pm (doors at 5.30pm): General Election hustings at Ely Cathedral

Candidates will answer questions submitted by the public at what promises to be a lively evening. The event will be chaired by Lord Wilson of Dinton and questions should be submitted to hustings@elycathedral.org no later than Monday, 24 June. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance. Book online at shorturl.at/oIA9O.

South Cambridgeshire:

Monday, 24 June at 7pm: Queen Edith’s Community Forum hustings, St John the Evangelist church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8RN

The event will be chaired by Julian Clover, of Cambridge 105 radio, and will also be recorded. Doors open at 6.30pm.

Wednesday, 26 June at 7pm-9pm: Sawston hustings, Sawston Free Church, 1 High Street, Sawston, CB22 3BG.

This hustings is open to all - and will be an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates standing in South Cambridgeshire.

Monday 1 July, 7:30pm: Grantchester hustings, Grantchester Village Hall, Vicarage Drive, CB3 9NG

Those who would like to submit a question, should sent it to chair@grantchester.org.uk. Questions can be a maximum of 20 words.

St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire:

Monday 24 June, 7:30pm: General Election hustings at St Andrew’s, Girton

The event will be chaired by the Rector, Michael Bigg. Each candidate will have a few minutes to make an opening statement, then candidates will take written questions submitted by those present, before making their closing remarks. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube at shorturl.at/hsFO1.
