Hamerton Zoo keeper who died in 'freak accident' named as Rosa King
She was mauled when a tiger entered an enclosure that she was working in.
Hamerton Zoo Park, near Sawtry, remains closed today after zoo keeper Rosa King, 33, died after being mauled by a tiger.
In what the zoo is calling a ‘freak accident’ a tiger was able to enter an enclosure that she was working in.
A statement from the zoo reads: “We are sorry but our staff are too distressed to speak directly to the media, as one of our colleagues was killed at Hamerton Zoo Park this morning.
“This appears to have been a freak accident.
“A full investigation is currently underway and we hope that more details can be announced as soon as we are able.”
Thousands of people took to the zoo’s Facebook to offer their condolences.
Sy Pratley said: “To all of you at Hamerton zoo park. I am so, so sorry for this tragic loss, I can’t come close to imagining how you all must feel at this time.”
