Hand grenade found near recreation ground in Waterbeach

A cordon has been lifted after a hand grenade was found near the recreation ground in Waterbeach today (Wednesday, June 1).
Cambridgeshire police say members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team have now declared the device as safe.
A spokesperson from Cambridgeshire Constabulary said the force was contacted with reports that a grenade had been found at a property in Cambridge Road, Waterbeach.
Officers attended the scene and a cordon was put in place on Cambridge Road, where people were also told to stay indoors.
A second cordon was erected around the recreation grounds near the skate park.
