Have your say on 20mph limit and traffic-calming for Hardwick as part of Comberton Greenway

Residents are being invited to have their say on plans for a 20mph speed limit and new traffic-calming measures for Cambridge Road and Main Street in Hardwick.

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is inviting residents and stakeholders to comment on the plans, which are part of the Comberton Greenway.

The plans also include improved crossings for pedestrians and cyclists, wider pavements and a welcoming village gateway with signs and planting. Side-road junctions would be narrowed to slow turning traffic to make it safer for people to cross, while enhanced landscaping with wildflower verges and additional seating would create more inviting public spaces.

The Comberton Greenway project aims to connect Cambridge, Coton, Hardwick and Comberton through a network of improved walking, wheeling and cycling routes.

Residents are being encouraged to attend a drop-in event on 17 October at St Mary’s Church in Hardwick to find out more about the proposals and speak to the GCP team in person.

Cllr Elisa Meschini, chair of the GCP’s executive board, said: “These proposals are about making daily life in Hardwick safer, easier, and more enjoyable.

“We want to create routes that everyone feels comfortable using, whether they’re walking, wheeling or cycling.

“Your feedback is vital, and we’re here to listen because, ultimately, this is about building a community that residents can truly take pride in and enjoy moving around.”

A survey to capture people’s feedback on the proposals will run until midday on Friday, 1 November 2024.

A drop-in event will be held on Thursday, 17 October from 3.30pm to 7.30pm at The Cabin, St Mary’s Church.
