Cambridge University Hospitals said for public safety it had no option but to shut the testing site, which has been used during the pandemic to reduce the need to visit Addenbrooke’s.

A spokesperson told patients: “Please do not visit Addenbrooke’s Hospital, as restrictions are still in place, and instead view our website, www.cuh.nhs.uk, for further updates.”

The high winds hitting the county have also prompted the closure of Wandlebury Country Park until at least 3pm today.
