Homes, church, car and pavilion damaged in spree of vandalism in Chesterton, Cambridge




A church, houses, car and a recreation ground pavilion were damaged in a spate of vandalism in Cambridge.

Police received reports at about 5.30pm last Friday (August 5) that a car window had been smashed with a brick and parts pulled off it in Church Street, Chesterton.

Windows of two homes in the same street had also been damaged and windows on the entrance doors of St Andrew’s Church had been smashed, along with a glass sliding door at Chesterton Recreation Ground Pavilion.

PC Calum Searle said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Church Street area at about 5pm on Friday.

“If anyone saw anything or has CCTV or dashcam footage, then I would urge them to contact the police.”

A 54-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and has been released on bail to return on September 1.
