Horse dies after losing rider and running into car in Burwell

A horse that had lost its rider ran into a road and hit a car in Burwell.

Police said the driver and the rider were not hurt in the incident, but the animal died following the collision.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at about 6.50am today (23 May) with reports of a collision between a car and a horse on Newmarket Road.”

One witness wrote on Facebook: “I was a few cars back when the loose horse ran across the road by the Red House junction, jumping over a car. I hope all involved are OK.”
