Iliffe Media adds two Suffolk and Cambridgeshire magazines to growing portfolio
Publisher of the Cambridge Independent aquires IQ Business Magazine and lifestyle magazine Velvet
Cambridge Independent publisher Iliffe Media has today (Wednesday) completed the acquisition of Velvet and IQ magazines from Cubiqdesign Ltd.
The magazines are based in Newmarket and have been successfully run by John and Gemma Treby, along with their team, for more than 10 years.
The magazines provide a strategic fit with the Cambridge Independent and the 13 newspaper titles acquired from Johnston Press in January, including the Newmarket Journal and Bury Free Press.
The intention is for these magazines to operate alongside the newspapers, giving customers the opportunity for advertising packages across an unrivalled portfolio of titles.
Edward Iliffe, chief executive of Iliffe Media, said: “We are delighted to have acquired these well-respected and established local magazines. With our long heritage as an independent, family-run media business, we firmly believe in the future of local publishing across all platforms, and these magazines are a natural extension to our burgeoning group of titles.”
John Treby, managing director of Cubiqdesign, said: “With the continued growth of our agency, the acquisition by Iliffe Media will allow us to focus on our core services, including brand, advertising, marketing and PR. Ensuring Velvet and IQ found a new home to expand and be nurtured was key for us and we know Iliffe Media is the right place to take these publications forward.”
Ricky Allan, MD of Iliffe Media, will take responsibility for these titles.
Velvet is a monthly consumer lifestyle magazine for Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, offering features around the best in local food and drink, entertainment and events, fashion, beauty, fitness, homes, interiors and motors.
IQ is a quarterly business magazine offering expert insight, business intelligence, trends and fresh thinking for SME owners in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
