The inaugural Cambridge Wellness Festival on Cambridge Biomedical Campus featured activities, talks, workshops and stalls – and could become an annual event.

It was held on the Green and gardens between Royal Papworth Hospital and AstraZeneca on September 12.

In addition to the main arena, there were two satellite tents – one housing drop-in activities throughout the day such as yoga, Qigong and sound baths – and the other housing talks on wellness.

There were also meditation sessions in Mynd’s Mobile Meditation Unit and gym sessions with Fitness Rush.

Nick Kirby, MD of Cambridge Biomedical Campus Ltd, said: “Attending to the wellbeing of people across the campus is central to our identity as a centre of global excellence rooted in our local community.

“In short, people matter. I was thrilled that the event attracted such a mix of different people who really engaged in what the festival had to offer.

“From getting active on the smoothie bikes and yoga classes, to stalls teaching people about nutrition, understanding mental health or taking guided mindfulness walks around the campus, we wanted to have something for everyone.

“We are keen for this to become an annual occasion for the community and welcome thoughts on how we go about it next year.”
