In pictures: Oktoberfest brings the taste of Bavaria to Jesus Green, Cambridge
Lederhosen and dirndl were the order of the day – along with plenty of German beer, of course – as the annual Cambridge Oktoberfest came to Jesus Green.
Since launching in 2016, the well-attended event continues to serve authentic German beer and food and also boasts live music and full Oktoberfest decoration.
Held in a tent for 2,000 people, the event’s waiters and waitresses were dressed in traditional Bavarian dress for last Friday and Saturday’s festivities – and they were not the only ones.
Anika Busk Damm, the event’s booking manager, said the numbers attending were “a little more than last year”, with 1,500 people on Friday evening, 1,100 on Saturday afternoon – when there was a student discount – and about 1,800 on Saturday evening.
She said: “It was amazing. The live music was great as well.”
Anika says the event received a lot of positive feedback on social media, with visitors to the Cambridge Oktoberfest praising the atmosphere – no doubt aided by some of that German beer.
