Police and crime commissioner Darryl Preston said: “Jack is ideally suited to undertake the role of interim chief executive officer, having many years of policing experience at a senior level behind him as well as managing governance for my office from 2021.

“As we develop a new police and crime plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough following the recent police and crime commissioner elections, I am confident that Jack has the skills to both lead and maintain stability within my office.”

Former CEO Jim Haylett retired in July after 38 years in policing.

With over 35 years in policing and leadership roles, Mr Hudson has a wealth of experience in policing at both operational and strategic level which includes managing and supporting organisations to change through collaboration.

Before his appointment, Mr Hudson headed up business development within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough OPCC as director for governance and compliance.

Panel members were satisfied that he has the skills, knowledge and experience to be successful in the role and demonstrated his ability to provide effective leadership, strategic direction and advice to the commissioner.
