Join webchat on A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements

Improvements to a key Cambridgeshire junction will be up for discussion on a live webchat on Thursday (July 16).

The Highways England technical team will answer questions about the latest designs for the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet stretch of road, as part of a consultation that started last month on a scheme that is aimed at improving journeys between Cambridge and Milton Keynes.

The proposed upgrade will see a new ten-mile dual carriageway built linking the A1 Black Cat roundabout in Bedfordshire to the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout in Cambridgeshire. Both existing roundabouts would also be upgraded into modern, free-flowing junctions, and a new junction would be added at Cambridge Road, near St Neots.

The live webchat will be on Thursday from 3-7pm at highwaysengland.co.uk/a428. The consultation closes on Tuesday, July 28.

Lee Galloway, Highways England A428 programme lead, said: “The A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements will transform one of the busiest road links in the East of England, helping to save drivers an hour-and-a-half on their journeys every week.

“It’s crucial that we hear the views of people who live, work and travel in and around Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, so we can deliver a project that offers the best value and maximises the benefits for all, while reducing the impact on the local communities and the environment.”
