The mini bus was presented to the school in the summer, but was being unveiled to the guests for the first time.

Money for the vehicle was raised through, among other things, the sale of raffle tickets and the tickets purchased for previous luncheon events.

The meeting at Barrington Hall also included the chance to watch a fashion show, after a well-attended luncheon.

Anne Furbank, of Buckden, organised the fashion show at the hall on Monday, September 23.

Pauline Hellowell, the Lady Taverners chairman, said that 130 ladies attended, as did the head of Castle School, Chris Baker.

“Before lunch, we had stalls for the ladies to shop,” she said, adding that the models, dressed in autumn fashions, circulated around the tables.

“It was well received and I think everybody enjoyed it,” said Pauline.
