LIVE: Councillors decide whether to proceed with Mill Road bus gate in Cambridge

Councillors are set to decide this morning (Friday, October 4) whether to close Mill Road bridge in Cambridge to most private vehicles.

It follows the results of a consultation that closed in September on a Traffic Regulation Order to install a bus gate on the bridge, which found respondents supported the proposal by a narrow margin.

A report by Cambridgeshire County Council officers is advising them to vote in favour of the restrictions.

If approved, the TRO would restrict motorised traffic over the railway bridge, with exemptions for local buses, cyclists, pedestrians, taxis and vehicles in a disabled tax class, NHS tax-exempt vehicles and vehicles on the council’s permitted vehicles list for Mill Road.
