Louis Rolfe savours golden moment at Para Cycling Track World Championships
Cambridge cyclist joins forces with Jon-Allan Butterworth and Jody Cundy
Louis Rolfe was bedecked in gold again in Rio, this time at the Para Cycling Track World Championships.
The 19-year-old Cambridge-based cyclist joined forces with Jody Cundy and Jon-Allan Butterworth in the C1-5 team sprint to earn first place, just as they did at the same venue at the Paralympics in 2016.
In the final, they had a re-match of their race against China from two years ago, and it was good news for the British team that the result was also the same.
In the individual events at the world championships, Rolfe narrowly missed out on the chance to ride for a medal in the C2 individual pursuit qualification, finishing fifth in 3min 53.103sec, and he was fourth in the men’s C2 1km time trial.
