Make a donation to the #Plantiback campaign when you buy a Christmas tree
People are being encouraged this festive season to join the #Plantiback campaign.
Every year, the UK buys six-eight million Christmas trees, and the majority of these get discarded in the new year – so this year the Cambridgeshire-based rewilding charity Creating Nature’s Corridors is urging people to pay it back.
All you have to do is to remember to make a £5 donation to the charity when you purchase your tree and the funds will go towards replanting the least wooded areas of the country.
While buying a Christmas tree is still regarded as the right choice from an environmental perspective (as long as you buy from a local supplier), Creating Nature’s Corridors wants to use the biggest ‘tree day’ of the year to serve as a reminder of the important role we can all play in addressing the climate change agenda.
Can you think of a better gift this Christmas than admiring your beautiful tree safe in the knowledge that the money donated will ensure a joyful more sustainable future for generations to come?
