Man injured in Cambridge kebab shop fire




Firefighters were called to a blaze in a Cambridge kebab takeaway restaurant yesterday (Thursday, June 6).

The fire started at around 5.30pm at Lokum kebab shop on Burleigh Street. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the takeaway restaurant involving cooking equipment. Fireifghters wearing breathing apparatus used two CO2 extinguishers, one dry powder extinguisher and a fire blanket to extinguish the fire. They returned to their station by 6.45pm.

A cordon was in place while emergency services worked to extinguish the blaze and a man was treated for burn injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The cause of the fire was found to be accidental.
